a revolution in do-it-yourself investing

Q & A

StockSignal is a revolution in do-it-yourself investing, but sometimes even revolutions need some explaining.

Here are some common questions:

1. How often will I receive buy or sell signals on the indexes you follow?

This is index specific, but generally buy or sell signals are generated anywhere from two to four times per year. Some years more, some years may find only one or two trades.

3. Do I receive signals on all seven (7) indexes?

Yes, we let you choose the index or indexes you want to follow and trade.

4. Do I need to place my investment funds with you?

No. StockSignal is not a traditional investment advisor and is therefore one of the reasons that you can benefit from our signals at a lower cost than if we managed your funds. We recommend you place your funds with any one a large number of discount brokers and use our signals to trade your account.

5. Is there a minimum investment size to do this?

No. However, we do recommend you consider using no-load mutual funds for smaller accounts and ETFs for accounts that can afford the cost of commissions on purchase and sales. Please be aware that many no-load mutual funds do charge short-term trading fees and it is possible that you may receive trade signals that are closely generated, thereby generating a short-term trading fee on such funds.

6. What mutual funds or ETFs do I purchase to execute these buy and sell signals?

We provide members a list of candidate ETFs and mutuals funds in our member area.

7. On sell signals do I move to cash?

Well you can certainly move to cash, however, our strategy is intended to be a long/short strategy.

We recommend you use sell signals to get out of your current position and then purchase a position that makes money as a given index declines (inverse or short mutual funds or ETFs).

However, just moving to cash on sell signals should also improve your investment performance over complete market cycles.

8. What if I need help executing these signals?

Sorry, at this time we do not offer trade assistance. However, all the major discount brokers have customer service personnel who can help you with trade execution.

In the future we plan to partner with a group that can execute signal trades on your behalf for a asset based fee.

9. What does this service cost?

Stocksignals.com is very cost effective.
It costs just $99 a year or $9.95 per month. It is your choice which way you want to pay!

10. What do I get for my subscription?

You get periodic trade signals on all seven (7) indexes listed above. These signals are generated two to four times per year on average.

Additionally, you will get a weekly email restating the current trade signals, plus a technical market analysis. You will receive a monthly newsletter with a brief market recap, select blog posts and a market forecast for the month ahead.

You will also receive access to member only area which includes blog updates, historical trades, sample portfolio ideas, suggested ETFs or mutual funds you can trade and much more.

11. In what periods does the strategy work best, and during what periods does it not work as well?

This strategy works best in trending markets which allow the individual pieces to ride their respective trends either up or down. Very volatile, wide swinging, or choppy markets reduce the effectiveness of the signals.

Our buy and sell signals tend to work a little like insurance. They can cost you a few dollars in strong bull markets due to occasional false reversal signals, but when the big one comes (the bear market) they really can make you money while others are giving back their previous gains.
